Verner Panton (1926-98)
Trained
at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen,
and initially worked in Arne Jacobsen's architectural
practice. He
established his own design office in 1955 and is
credited with the design of the very first single-form
injection moulded plastic chair, designed by him in1960. He
was a prolific designer of furniture, textiles and
lightning as well as exhibitions. In 1971, he
co-designed with Joe Colombo and Olivier Mourgue the
"Visiona 2" exhibition for Bayer. He
received numerous design awards in 1963 & 1968. He
finally settled in Switzerland.
